"GEM" – Grand Egypt Museum – A jewel in Giza
"Egypt's Gift to the World"—the new, grand Egyptian Museum right next to the Pyramids of Giza—a temple of the modern age. Join Dr. Wilhelm Krammer, an Egyptologist who has also participated in excavations, the treasures and highlights of the museum. Travel along the Nile to the original sites where the sculptures, sarcophagi, and mummies were found, and to the temples and tombs of the pharaohs.

The new Egyptian Museum covers a total area of approximately 500,000 square meters, including 167,000 square meters of usable space and 81,000 square meters of exhibition space. It houses over 100,000 artifacts from various eras of Egyptian civilization, ranging from the Predynastic Period to Roman Egypt. One of the main attractions, the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s burial goods from the Valley of the Kings—comprising over 5,000 objects—is displayed in a separate section. At the main entrance, the so-called "Hanging Obelisk" from the time of King Ramses II was erected on an open platform supported by four columns, so that the king’s cartouche—which had been hidden for 3,500 years—can be seen from below. Many artifacts in the collection are on display here for the first time. (Source: Wikipedia)
